This record contains data collected from the near-water surface sampling site off the Lucinda Jetty, as part of the Lucinda Jetty Coastal Observatory. Sample collection began the 9th of January, 2014. The data can be used for Ocean Colour sensor validation. Parameters measured include the absorption coefficients of the particulate and dissolved components of the water column and the phytoplankton pigment concentration and composition.

Sentinel-3 OLCI full resolution (approximately 300m-pixel size) daily reprojected Level 2P water quality (Chl-a, CDOM, TSS) produced by CSIRO under eReefs Phase 5 using the FUB-CSIRO Coastal Water Processor (detailed description at https://doi.org/10.1016/j.rse.2021.112848). This product was derived from Level 2 geophysical quantities, and placed onto a regular grid using nearest neighbor resampling. Standard Level 1 quality flags have been applied to pre-mask and quality control the data (see file_version_quality_control). Additional algorithm input and output out-of-range flags (in_out_OR_combined_flags) are provided to further quality control the data. These flags have not been applied to pre-mask the data.

Despite the apparent importance of microphytobenthos and macroalgal populations as primary producers, primary productivity data and particularly data investigating the controls on primary productivity in WA shelf waters are sparse. We have investigated microphytobenthoc and macroalgal primary productivity in Marmion Lagoon by measuring oxygen evolution during a number of targeted incubations.

This record describes PSA (Particle Size Analysis) data collected as part of the 1991-1993 Tasmanian Slope Trophodynamics Study undertaken by CSIRO Division of Fisheries. PSA data were obtained from Niskin bottle samples at a range of depths (surface to 1500 meters) on 4 cruises of FRV "Southern Surveyor" on three 60 km transects across the continental shelf to the south and south-east of Tasmania in July 1991 (cruise SS 02/91), February 1992 (cruise SS 01/92), November 1992 (cruise SS 04/92) and April 1993 (cruise SS 03/93). Analyses were later used to also derive approximate measurements of particulate carbon in the water column.

This record describes chlorophyll data collected as part of the 1991-1993 Tasmanian Slope Trophodynamics Study undertaken by CSIRO Division of Fisheries. Chlorophyll data were obtained from analyses of filters from Niskin bottle samples at a range of depths (surface to 1500 meters) on 4 cruises of FRV "Southern Surveyor" on three 60 km transects across the continental shelf to the south and south-east of Tasmania in July 1991 (cruise SS 02/91), February 1992 (cruise SS 01/92), November 1992 (cruise SS 04/92) and April 1993 (cruise SS 03/93). Analyses were carried out using spectrophotometric methods (cruise SS 01/92) and HPLC (3 remaining cruises), and analysed for chlorophylls a, b and c to give estimates of algal biomass in the water.

This record is an overview entry for biological data collected on Diamantina cruise Dm 5/65. This cruise took place in the east Indian Ocean off Western Australia during 10 August to 10 September 1964, under the leadership of B. Newell. Biological data collected on this cruise include primary production rates, particulate matter (carbon, carbohydrate, protein and phosphorus) samples and zooplankton (samples sent to the Indian Biological Centre, Cochin, India for taxonomic studies). Please note: This metadata record is a preliminary entry derived from information in the cruise report. Individual data types - which may span several cruises - will be indexed separately within this metadata system in due course.

We have investigated the temporal and spatial nutrient distribution within Marmion Lagoon an urban, shallow and semi-enclosed water body that may be susceptible to anthropogenic nutrient stress. We have completed twelve quasi-monthly surveys investigating spatial variations in nutrient concentration at 30 sampling stations distributed along six east - west transects across the Lagoon.

Benthic water quality measurements were obtained from nine sites across and outside Marmion Lagoon at varying depths (3m, 5m, 10m, 15m, 20m, 25m, 30m, 35m and 40m). Data was collected on Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Particulate Organic Matter (POM), Particulate Inorganic Matter(PIM), Chlorophyll-a, Phaeopigments, HPLC, Fatty acids, Nutrient Concentrations and Isotopes over December 2008 to March 2009.

This dataset contains the processed Hydrology (HYD) data collected on Diamantina voyage Dm 1/63. The voyage took place in the Indian Ocean off Western Australia during 28 March to 27 April 1963. This dataset has been processed and is archived within the CSIRO Marine and Atmospheric Research Data Centre in Hobart. Additional information regarding this dataset is contained in the cruise report for this voyage and/or the data processing report (as available). Diamantina on-voyage hydrology data are typically obtained from water samples collected in Nansen bottles at various depths. Parameters measured normally comprise temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, inorganic phosphate, total phosphorus, nitrate and particulate carbon.
